Gawron Field Ribbon Cutting Dedication May 15, 2022








Welcome to the website of the   Yankee Flyersof Connecticut  radio control model airplane club. The club is located in northeastern Connecticut and maintains 3 flying fields, one at the Brooklyn transfer station on Rukstella Rd in Brooklyn, one at the Bull Hill Recreation Area on Messier Road in North Grosvenor Dale;  and the third one at 188 Gawron Rd. Thompson, CT.. The club also holds 3 float flys on West Thompson Lake every year.

 Save the Date:  Saturday May 4th, starting at 12 noon is our next Food / Fun Fly.  Location: Gawron Flying Field.

DATES: June 9, August 11, and September 8.


Open to all RC model flyers with a current AMA card. A $10 landing fee is charged.




Float Flys are held at the boat launch maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers, on West Thompson Lake, at the end of Campground Dr, 401 Reardon Rd, North Grosvenor Dale, CT 06255

          2024 Meetings

The next meeting is Sunday, MAY 19, 2 p.m.  Location: Gawron Field

During warm weather, meetings are held at one of the flying fields.

Float Fly dates for 2024: 

June 9, August 11, and September 8.

​ALL 3 Flying Sites are FAA FRIA Approved.




Gawron Field located at 188 Gawron Rd., Thompson, CT.. 


Brooklyn Transfer Station is located at 77 Rukstella Rd, Brooklyn, CT 06234

Saturday 8-5pm

Gate is locked when Transfer Station is closed or when YFOC members are not flying.


Bull Hill Recreation Area is located at 199 Messier Rd, North Grosvenor Dale, CT 06277

Gate may be left unlocked when flying but please keep the gate closed. SOCCER PRACTICES AND MATCHES TAKE PRECEDENCE.  NO FLYING IS TO OCCUR WHILE SOCCER IS BEING PLAYED.
